Anyone who remembers me is a doll.
I got tagged by one of the most awesome artists on this website,
1. My love for image is expressed in light, plane/composition and above all color. After that I love shape and line best.
2. I've spent so long only drawing digitally that I am afraid to start painting irl anymore. I tried a few times and made an awful mess of things. I took a course in Japanese calligraphy not too long ago, so at least I got rid of my brush phobia again.
3. A Japanese friend of mine, a photographer called Kana, and I plan on collaborating on at least one series of works; these will be uploaded to my DA account, my LJ and to her own blogsite. The works will consist of b&w photos on which an image is drawn in color. Currently playing with the absolutely hilarious (...maybe not) title, "Karo Kora" (Kana-Roxy-Collaboration, or コラボレーション in Japanese) or perhaps even sillier title "Roka-Cola". Let me know what title you like. We'll keep you posted as plans progress.
4. My work has been hovering at the unfortunate intersection of manga and 'fine art' for several years now, and people (read: art school teachers) don't really know what to do with me. I think most of the stuff up here is more manga than f.a. so you might not have noticed.
5. Subject matter ranges from mythology, fairy tales and a love-hate relationship with ghosts, to the ultra-normalcy of fashionable young people, daily life and food.
6. I currently started using Painter Classic and am very pleased with it. Have been using OC3+ or whatever up till now and am getting upset with the level of insensitivity. I wish I could get my hands on CS2 or Painter 9 but I can't and that's how it is.
7. If it's not digital, it's pencilled and/or inked. I love drawing with pencils to the extent that the last manga I drew (plug: Magpies, Strawberry; by Cheesecake! Studio 2005) was all pencilled. Come to think of it, I want to upload the illustrations that I've published in CC!'s Okashi!2 (release: end of June '06!) but I wonder if they'd mind.
8. If I'm doing a pic for someone else I find it easier to squeeze in more detail; maybe it feels like I owe them more than I would myself. Maybe also because drawing is a kind of therapy for me and makes me lazy. Am open as ever, by the way, for art trades. Note me
9. I've always been fascinated with the human body, and with folds in cloth. Put me down in front of either a model or a cloth still, with several pieces of paper the size of a table and large chunks of charcoal, and I'll be quiet in ecstasy for the rest of the day.
10. I find inspiration... here on DA (though being confronted with so many fabulous artists is very daunting), in the massive collection of art books I have, watching movies and cartoons, talking about great ideas with friends, looking at friends' artwork, reading books...
Whoo that was hard! Now it's my turn to tag 6 people.. I tag
